Joyce Ann Prettol served on the mission field with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 45 years. She served first in the jungles of Bolivia, then the tropics of the Philippines, and finally in South Asia. Joyce was most passionate about her relationship with Jesus and making sure to share the good news. She dedicated both her personal and professional life to that pursuit, praying daily that friends and family would know Jesus more. Her greatest desire was that her children and grandchildren would follow Christ just as fully and passionately. This book was written as her personal testimony of that journey and evidence of God’s faithfulness all the way through her untimely death in 2022.

Born in wild Alaska in 1916, on a fishing boat off the coast of Juneau, Juno's start in life was not ideal. By the time she reach the age of three, she found herself in a Seattle orphange. From that point on, Juno's life was one of many starts and changes. Finding my grandmother was a journey in of itself. I had many questions to ask her and I knew she would have a good story to tell. Juno didn't disappoint me.

After living in Acapulco for years, one morning in 2011 I got a phone call from someone, a drug cartel gang member perhaps, threatening to behead me if I didn't pay a ransom. Multiple murders and beheadings were happening regularly in town. Recently, a good friend of mine had been chased down the main strip, his body riddled with bullets as the violent confrontation came to an end, all within earshot of my apartment nearby. Decades ago when I grew up in the 1940-50s almost every farm had a large, imposing barn that was the center of the life of a farm family. Children learned their work ethic by taking care of animals of various sorts and doing the chores morning and night. That symbol of an agrarian society has rapidly diminished as farms became bigger and more specialized. Today it is difficult for a farm family to make a living from a small farm.
